I am the Nigeria Correspondent at Reuters in Abuja, covering politics, development, and regional diplomacy.
Before joining Reuters, I was based in Lagos and worked as a freelancer reporting various issues across West Africa for almost four years.
I have reported for Al Jazeera, where I frequently contributed as a stringer; The Washington Post, where I was a member of its Talent Network; The Guardian UK, Foreign Policy, Vice, TRT World, Rest of World, Mail and Guardian, open Democracy, Oxford Analytica and many others.
As part of the Sinking Cities Project, I jointly won the Emerging Talent prize at the 2023 Climate Journalism Award organized by the European Journalism Centre in Lisbon. For my deeply reported feature on illegal backstreet abortion clinics in Nigeria, I was longlisted for the One World Media's Print Award in 2021. I graduated from the Department of English at the University of Ilorin in 2022 as the best student.
I have also won fellowships and grants in recognition and support of my work. In 2021, I was selected for the inaugural African Arguments Journalism Fellowship and in 2022, I won an Unbias the News' Sinking Cities grant.
I devote my spare time to learning French. I adore James Baldwin and I am a staunch supporter of Liverpool FC, the best football team in the world.
